In The Shadow Of The Dragon
During a break from teaching, he wrote his first novel for young readers, In The Shadow Of The Dragon, set in the Drakensberg mountains. The main characters are three boys from different backgrounds who get together during their school holiday and get involved in numerus adventures.
This novel sat, unpublished on a shelf until 2013, when he decided to read it to his class. The reception he received encouraged him to investigate self-publishing the book and this came to fruition during that year.
Lost Boy
The success of In The Shadow Of The Dragon led him to a story that was on a subject he felt passionate about; the Holocaust and its effect on the Jewish community in Germany during the rise and fall of the Third Reich.
Lost Boy is the story of a young Jewish boy who finds himself alone in the ruins of Berlin at the end of World War ll. He has a passion for writing, and on finding an old exercise book and pencil he decides to record his thoughts, feeling and memories. This novel was published in an unusual way, appearing to be hand written on old pieces of paper. The book also contained photographs meant to reflect his family and ancestors. This novel has been a great success and has sold in excess of 1 000 copies and is being used as a literature study in a number of schools.
Lost Boy – The Search
The success of this endeavour led to the writing of the sequel, Lost Boy – The Search. This is also written as a journal and describes his journey across Europe in search of his lost family members with the aid of two military officers.
